Amen Family Foundation
Jeanette Amen has been a successful real estate agent and is involved in community projects. She has been an active member of The San Diego Women’s Foundation for almost 10 years. Jeanette’s legacy will include supporting our region’s nonprofits organizations. Her husband Steve, her niece Heather, and nephew Charles will serve as advisors to the fund.
Sylvia Moss Brown Cabrillo National Monument Foundation Fund; Sylvia Moss Brown for Rancho Coastal Humane Society; and The Mr. and Mrs. James A. Brown, Jr. Memorial Fund for the Rockbridge Regional Library
Sylvia Brown was born and raised in Lexington, Virginia, but also spent many years in San Diego which is why she wanted to name institutions in both communities as the eventual beneficiaries of her estate plan. While the Rancho Coastal Humane Society and the Rockbridge Regional Library, named in honor of her parents, will receive operating support, the fund for the Cabrillo National Monument will support the volunteer program, in which Mrs. Brown participated for many years.
Citizens Environmental Stewardship Fund
Marshall and Pamela Saunders established this fund to provide for specific organizations they supported during their lifetime. The fund will work to eliminate greenhouse gases, via organizations that work aggressively but peacefully (civil resistance is welcomed) to stop the mining and burning of coal, oil, natural gas, and the use of other greenhouse gases. This includes supporting organizations that create the political will for a sustainable climate by lobbying government and empowering individuals to have breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power.
Pearl Donohue Legacy Fund
This fund will support St. Vincent de Paul Village, Inc., Franciscan Mission Associates, Jesuits of the California Province, Covenant House California, Missionaries of Africa, and The Columbian Fathers.
Pearl Donohue Scholarship
Pearl and Francis Donohue met each other at a fundraising dance. Since Francis served in the Navy, the couple lived in Japan and all over the United States. Pearl spent most of her career in nursing as an industrial nurse at Ryan Aircraft, school nurse, operating room nurse, and a nurse at the Boys and Girls Aid Society. Pearl’s legacy fund will support, in perpetuity, her favorite Catholic charities, and the scholarship fund will provide opportunities for minority students in the San Diego region.
Kim Doren WOW Fund
Kim has been actively involved in community organizations and loves working with children. Kim passionately believes in leaving a legacy to help future generations and previously established an endowment for the common good. “WOW” was the name of her business partnership with the late broadcaster Charlie Jones, with whom she co-authored several books. She hopes her fund will eventually give a little joy to the lives of others so they’ll want to say, “Wow!”
Charles and Rhona Gorder Fund
Charles and Rhona are volunteers for their church and organize an annual 5K walkathon fundraiser at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Cancer Center in memory of Chuck’s second son, Bruce, who died at age 37 from melanoma. The fund at The San Diego Foundation will support UCSD Cancer Center, U.S. Naval Academy, First United Methodist Church in San Diego, and Kensington Community Church.
Diane Johnson Charitable Fund
Diane has been dedicated to volunteering at community organizations, such as German Shepherd Rescue, Make a Wish Foundation, Rancho Coastal Humane Society, Scripps Hospital Encinitas, and Pet Encounter Therapy at the Helen Woodward Animal Center. These organizations reflect Diane’s interest in supporting charities and organizations dedicated to providing emotional and physical well-being for all living creatures.
H. William Kuni Endowed Conservation Fund
This fund’s purpose is to assist in the acquisition and stewardship of important natural habitat in San Diego County.
Karen Ladner and Todd Stone Helping Hand Fund
Karen Ladner and Todd Stone are both estate planning attorneys with strong roots in San Diego. This fund will be a catalyst for helping disadvantaged youth become well-rounded members of the community and to get ahead in life.
McCallan Family Foundation
This fund was established to support general charitable purposes.
James Mousel Legacy Fund
This fund was established to evenly grant to Science & Technology programs and animal wellness programs for both wild and domestic animals in the San Diego region.
Arthur E. and Arthur C. Navarro-Nelson Legacy Fund
This legacy fund will support Lois Navarro-Nelson’s church and research of diseases such as breast cancer, diabetes, osteoporosis, liver disease, and autism, some of which affected their family members.

The Van Hunnick Oceanside Endowment Fund
Rudy and Elizabeth Van Hunnick have called Oceanside their home for the last 15 years. They established their endowment fund to support programs in the community that raise the quality of life in Oceanside and help to maintain its unique characteristics.
Kathy and Mark WinklerLegacy Fund
Kathy and Mark believe in giving back. Active community volunteers and also busy real estate professionals, Kathy and Mark are champions for San Diego North County. The Kathy and Mark Winkler Legacy Fund will support regional social justice programs helping disadvantaged populations, particularly with an interfaith focus.
David A. Wood Legacy Endowment
David established this fund to support organizations he is passionate about, including Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, and the Becket Center for the Hilltowns. These groups are located in the Berkshire Mountains of western Massachusetts, where Dave has a summer home.
